Comus takes a personal approach to what we do because the investments we make are outside of traditional markets. We need to fully understand how you are currently invested and what your future financial goals are. If you haven’t invested in startups before, you are jumping into the deep end of the pool. We want to have a strong relationship with our clients so that you are comfortable with the information we share. We believe investors should always have a good working relationship with people investing their money.

Comus works personally with its investors to educate them on the world of venture capital and angel investing. We want our investors to fully understand the process as well as the risk, reward, and timeline for payout of your investment. We will assess your appetite for risk and the types of investments in which you may be interested.

We aren’t just here to invest your money. We want to ensure you are an informed investor and all your financial targets are on track. We frequently send out information about investing, current state of the economy, and articles relevant to the current markets that you may find interesting. We are here to answer any questions and if we can’t, we will point you in the direction of someone in our network who can.

How do we find these investments? We are constantly in communication with entrepreneurs, attending pitch competitions, and tracking down startups we hear about in the Houston area. Thanks to our strong network and reputation, we are also approached by companies seeking our investment. Comus specifically invests in early-stage funding rounds and only on companies in the Houston area.

After each fund is formed and funding is closed, we will start to vet companies and be prepared to make an investment. We will review the investments with you, walk you through all the information about the companies, their leadership, and their upside. Through the duration of the fund, we make investments and cash injections into companies we determine will provide the best return on investment. Where a large fund may invest in 10+ companies, we prefer to focus on 4-6 strong companies and concentrate our resources in ensuring their success.

We don’t just invest in companies, we partner with them. We help them progress by working with them on their business strategy, exit plan, and pair them with advisors who can help them to grow. We don’t succeed if they don’t succeed and we can leverage our network to maximize their chance of success.

We provide updates to investors periodically or as companies hit milestones. Our goal is to always have open communication with the management teams of companies in which we invest. This allows us to keep our investors investors informed.
